The main objective of the Master’s program in Industrial Design is to answer the need for real designers in different product designs such as all kinds of equipment, transportation, automotive, packaging within the scope of “production-consumption-investment”, to contribute solution of design problems faced or to be faced by Turkish industry, to provide design and designer support for Turkish Industry, and to educate the best and most competent industrial designers, who would accomplish creative solutions in this field as well as the best product design with respect to the objectives in the art and sciences environment representing the identity of the university.

Applied Mathematics MSc

The mathematics discipline is an interdisciplinary field producing methods and techniques, which can be used in a number of different disciplines, in addition to its self-development. The Applied Mathematics department explores the areas of practice of traditional and modern mathematics and brings these areas into use with research, education and industrial purposes. The topics under primary focus of the department are as follows:

Mathematical physics,
Differential equations,
Optimization,
Operations research,
Game theory,
Stochastic control theory,
Probability theory,
Quantitative analysis,
Computer sciences,
Statistics

The Department of Applied Mathematics aims to support research and development activities in these fields and to create practice areas in the academic or industrial environments. In accordance with this purpose, students from different disciplines who are willing to specialize in this field are also accepted in our program. Therefore our program is open to graduates of natural and applied sciences, and engineering, alongside qualified teaching staff specialized in natural and applied sciences fields as well as graduates of business administration, economics, informatics, econometrics, etc.

Our Master’s program consists of seven courses of 21 credits and a seminar course of 3 credits, and the thesis. 

Industrial Engineering MSc

The strategies for launching universities in our country within the framework of the EU process are determined. On the one hand, steps should be taken in R&D in order to reach the Lisbon Objectives and Engineering Sciences will be the background for any kind of research. On the other hand, a solid background in liberal arts, and especially in industrial engineering, will be a facilitating factor for the interaction with other universities as in regards to student mobility as intended by the Bologna Process.

Our country, trying to capture modern technology, substantially requires qualified graduates in the field of industrial engineering, which is one of the basic elements in the process of research and development.

Industrial Engineering graduates at a Master’s level are responsible for the balanced distribution of resources, effective use and establishment of cooperation between the specialists of their company. Besides the principal business of an organization, they act as a bridge between the management and specialists in different fields. In addition, they work in the areas of business design, business measurement, wage management, office organization and supply management, production planning and control, cost and budget control, quality management, business science and ergonomics.

Moreover, Industrial Engineering graduates at a Master’s level are working at planning and quality assurance units. Today, Industrial Engineering is fully recognized by the large-scale enterprises and the employment of graduates having a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering is increasing each day. Industrial Engineers have started working in service businesses in banking, insurance, consulting, software, tourism, and health sectors as well. Students who have successfully graduated from different disciplines are allowed to do a Masters in Industrial Engineering with the intention of providing benefits for the economic development of the country.

Departing from this perspective, it is aimed to reinforce Haliç University in the field of engineering sciences with the launch of the Industrial Engineering Department in the 2007-2008 academic year, as well as encouraging undergraduates in this field to have a Master’s degree

The language of instruction of the Master’s program will be Turkish.   

Electronics and Communications Engineering MSc

Performing R&D activities is of great importance for our country to have a break-through in R&D, while providing a sustainable socio-economic development through increasing competitiveness at an international level. The background of research is formed by Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the Engineering sciences.
Haliç University, taking this perspective into consideration, aims to contribute to bringing up the human resources of researchers in the area of engineering sciences in our country.

The Master in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Thesis has four main objectives:  

(1) To educate research engineers with MSc,
(2) To provide dissertations that are based on genuine research and issuable in journals with SCI or other citation index,
(3) To contribute research to be useful for the industry and
(4) To launch a Doctorate program

Graduates will be provided to be employed in industry, technology institutions or other research centers as R&D specialists with their “Researcher” identity on one hand and they will be provided to be educated as qualified faculty members through PhD programs on the other hand. In the globalizing world, the need for electrical and electronic engineering is increasing and foreign language speaking international electrical and electronic engineers are wanted. There is a demand for specialists in electrical and electronic engineering. Therefore, Haliç University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences has decided to launch a “Master in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Thesis” comprised of 24 credits. In this program, any willing student can opt for taking more credits.

20% of the students accepted to this program will be granted with respect to the aim of educating researchers and there will be no registration fee for these students while some of them might be employed as teaching assistants.

The aim, insight and language of instruction of the Program
The people, who have a Master’s degree in Electrical-Electronic Engineering, in addition to their main profession, are generally responsible for not only management of resources, but also balanced distribution of management of projects, effective use and establishment of cooperation between the experts in their institutions through their background in mathematics, skills in a systematic way of analytical thinking and discipline. In addition, they may work in the areas of business design, process identification and development, R&D, work measurement, supply management, production planning and control, quality management, business science and ergonomics in the fields of electrics and/or electronics in their institutions. 

Moreover, the people who have a Master’s degree in Electrical-Electronic Engineering work in planning and quality assurance units. Today, Electrical-Electronic Engineering is fully recognized by the large-scale enterprises, and the employment of graduates having a Master’s degree in Electrical-Electronic Engineering is increasing each day. Electrical-Electronic Engineers have started working in service businesses in banking, insurance, consulting, software, tourism, and health sectors as well.

Departing from this perspective, it is aimed to reinforce Haliç University in the field of engineering sciences with the launch of the Electrical-Electronic Engineering Department in the 2004-2005 academic year, as well as encouraging undergraduates in this field to have a Master’s degree.

The language of instruction of the Master’s program will be in Turkish as well. We will encourage some of the courses to be taught in English.
Our students are shifted to sub-programs of either “Electrics” or “Electronics” through the common courses as well as elective courses starting from the seventh semester of the 4 year long Electrical-Electronic Engineering Program. Parallel to our aim to equip our students as specialists at an undergraduate level when they become engineers and work in their sectors, we have spilt our Master’s programs into two fields as “A Master’s Program in Electrical Engineering” and “A Master’s Program in Electronic Engineering”. There will be few options available for the application conditions to these programs. Graduates of Electrics-Electronics at an undergraduate level may choose one of the two programs for the Master’s studies. 

Management Information Systems MSc

The developments in computer science and technology in the last decade is concerning any business deeply as it has been affecting the everyday life in every aspect. The need for specialists in management informatics is gradually increasing.

In our country, education is provided that is aimed directly at the profession of informatics at all levels of this field. On the other hand, there is a need for informatics specialists with a management background and management specialists with an informatics background in the field of informatics concentrating on the management applications, in the businesses, public or private bodies. Due to the numbers of tens of thousands of SMEs, this field of the profession is creating an important area of employment. 

Among the recent technical developments in informatics, computer networks and Web technologies as well as the application systems used on these technologies are leading the field. Especially, web-based business applications have turned concepts such as e-business and e-trade into practical applications and it makes the establishment of e-management essential. Therefore, specialization in the management of information systems should combine modern management applications and information technologies equally weighted. 

Haliç University will start a Master’s program in Management Information Systems (MIS) Specialization within the above mentioned scope of the management information field with the joint contribution of Computer Engineering and Business Administration disciplines.   

Molecular Biology and Genetics MSc

Molecular biology and genetics is a multidisciplinary, constantly evolving science and explores the basic properties, structures and functions of living molecules, interactions with each other, and cellular responses resulting from interaction. The purpose of this department is to understand molecular basis of diseases stem from genetic disorders by studying the structure and functions of DNA, RNA, proteins and their interactions with each other in the healthy functioning of cells and organisms. Understanding of these mechanisms at the molecular level makes an important contribution to the treatment and diagnosis process. For the development of personalized therapies, it is indispensable for the emergence of cellular mechanisms by understanding intracellular and intercellular signals. This department aims to develop new therapeutic strategies such as stem cell treatments, drug designs, therapy with nanoparticles, immunological therapies and vaccine production, which researches the molecular mechanisms of pathological conditions and works to eliminate them. Complex syndromes such as heart diseases, diabetes, genetic disorders, cell signaling problems caused by cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, viral and bacterial infections, stem cell, plant genetics and microbial genetics studies are the research fields of molecular biology and genetics.

Haliç University's Molecular Biology and Genetics Department offers high quality educational programs, equipped laboratory infrastructure and training opportunities for students with its expert and experienced faculty members.

The fully equipped research and student laboratories planned with the latest technology are being used with the aim of developing and teaching new techniques and the lectures and seminars organized with the participation of the guest scientists as well as the lecturers and experts in the university are watched with interest and admiration by our students and the scientific world.

The Master of Science program in Molecular Biology and Genetics Department of the Institute of Sciences contains theoretical and experimental lectures on current knowledge in molecular biology and genetics. According to Bologna process, this program has a total of 4 semesters with 120 ECTS. After completing 60 ECTS courses in the first two semesters, students are required to complete 60 ECTS credits by conducting their master's thesis experimentally in the field of molecular genetics. After graduation, students are encouraged to academic programs by being encouraged to their doctorate programs in Turkey and abroad. However, it is also possible for the students who want to work in the sector.
